ASI certifies Lotte Aluminium Co., Ltd. Ansan plant against ASI Performance Standard
The facility’s operations include rolling, sepa-slitting and annealing for the production of aluminium foil.

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that Lotte Aluminium Co., Ltd. has been successfully certified against the ASI Performance Standard for its Ansan operations, which mainly produces aluminium foil used in the packaging of food, cigarettes, pharmaceuticals, for electronics in batteries and automotive parts, as well as for construction materials.
The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard defines environmental, social and governance principles and criteria, with the aim to address sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain. It sets out 59 criteria under the three sustainability pillars of Governance, Environment and Social, which address key issues such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples rights, and greenhouse gas emissions.
The independent, third-party audits of the Lotte Aluminium Co., Ltd. facility was carried out by DNV GL.
