Aluminium Stewardship Initiative certifies Tianjin Zhongwang Aluminium Co., Ltd. plant against ASI Chain of Custody Standard
The plant’s outputs are destined for applications in the automotive, aerospace, ship building, rail and packaging sectors.

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that Tianjin Zhongwang Aluminium Co., Ltd. has been successfully certified against the ASI Chain of Custody Standard for its operations in Tianjin, China. The facility’s operations include casting, hot and cold rolling, finishing and annealing with outputs of ingot, thick plate, sheet and coil products. The operations achieved ASI Performance Standard certification in April 2020.
The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI CoC Standard sets out requirements for the creation of a Chain of Custody for material that is produced and processed through the value chain into diverse downstream sectors. The implementation of ASI’s CoC Standard links verified practices at successive steps of the supply chain – certified under the ASI Performance Standard – to the products produced by ASI Certified Entities.
The independent, third-party audits of the Tianjin Zhongwang Co., Ltd. plant was carried out by TÜV Rheinland Cert GmbH.
Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI said, “We congratulate Tianjin Zhongwang Aluminium Co., Ltd. on their ASI Chain of Custody Certification. The production volumes and products from this facility are key input to a wide range of downstream use sectors, including transportation, and achieving both ASI Certifications is an important demonstration of the company’s commitment to a responsible aluminium value chain.”
Mr. Wang Fei, Chairman of Tianjin Zhongwang Aluminum Co., Ltd. said, “We are honored to have passed the dual certification of ASI Performance Standard and Chain of Custody Standard. This is an important milestone in our sustainable development process. As a member of ASI, we will unswervingly fulfill our promise and hope to provide customers with ASI-certified materials in the near future.”
