Aluminium Stewardship Initiative certifies two Audi facilities against ASI Chain of Custody Standard
Audi has achieved ASI Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard Certification for its rolled material press shop operations undertaken at its production facilities in Neckarsulm and Ingolstadt, Germany.

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that Audi has been successfully certified against the ASI Chain of Custody Standard for its Neckarsulm and Ingolstadt facilities, where rolled material press operations create automotive body parts from aluminium sheet material.
The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI CoC Standard sets out requirements for the creation of a Chain of Custody for material that is produced and processed through the value chain into diverse downstream sectors. The implementation of ASI’s CoC Standard links verified practices at successive steps of the supply chain – certified under the ASI Performance Standard – to the products produced by ASI Certified Entities. The independent, third-party audits of the Audi facilities was carried out by DNV GL.

Over the course of this year, we have noted a growing interest in downstream aluminium users to source responsibly produced aluminium for their products and to be able to demonstrate this to their customers. Paired with the company’s closed-loop scrap recycling system at these facilities, the CoC Certification enables Audi to address consumer expectations and demand for more sustainable products.”
