Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that Erbslöh Aluminium GmbH has been certified against the ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) for the development, sales, and production of aluminium profiles and embossed sheets at its facilities in Velbert and Hemer, Germany. The company’s products are primarily destined for use in the automotive sector (e.g, for window trims and roof rails, or extruded and functionally coated flat tubes for AC condensers, evaporators, and BEV battery cooling systems) and other sectors, such as for furniture, appliances, consumer electronics or bicycle components.
The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) was launched in May 2022 following a multi-year revision process. It defines 11 principles and 62 criteria under three sustainability pillars – Environment, Social, and Governance – with the aim to address pressing sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain, such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples rights, circularity, and greenhouse gas emissions.
The independent, third-party audit of the Erbslöh Aluminium GmbH operations was carried out by DQS CFS.
“We warmly congratulate Erbslöh Aluminium GmbH for achieving Performance Standard Certification V3 (2022) at its extrusion operations in Velbert and Hemer, Germany. ASI’s updated 2022 Standards are a step up in expectations and drive continuous improvement. ASI Certification enables Members to assess their operations against leading ESG criteria for the industry and sets a pathway to achieve more responsible production practices and processes.”
– Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI
“Successfully achieving the ASI certification is not just a badge of honor, but a reflection of our commitment to excellence and sustainability. It signifies that sustainability has become part of our DNA, just like our commitment to quality, long-term value to stakeholders, social responsibility, and the environment. With this certification, we reaffirm our promise to make a positive impact on the world while delivering exceptional value to our customers.”
– Norbert William Sucke, Managing Director of Erbslöh Aluminium GmbH
