Triangle’s – Cycling Equipments, S.A. has achieved ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) Certification for the production of aluminium frames for use in electric bicycles at its Agueda plant located in Borralha, Portugal.

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that Triangle’s – Cycling Equipments, S.A. has been certified against the ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022). The company produces aluminium frames for electric bicycles, combining different types of aluminium parts, including tubes, forgings and castings. The Agueda facility’s main processes include welding, cutting, heat treatment, 3D laser cutting, ink machining, grinding, polishing, finishing processes, painting, hydroforming, bending, and strength testing. The facility also includes seven warehouses.

The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) was launched in May 2022 following a multi-year revision process. It defines 11 principles and 62 criteria under three sustainability pillars – Environment, Social, and Governance – with the aim to address pressing sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain, such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples’ rights, circularity, and greenhouse gas emissions.

The independent, third-party audit of Triangle’s – Cycling Equipments, S.A. was carried out by DNV Business Assurance Services UK Ltd. A full listing of audit findings outlining evidence of conformances and minor non-conformances is available from page 5 of the summary audit report, linked below. Seven minor non-conformances are noted under Criteria 2.4a-e Responsible Sourcing, 6.1a-f Emissions to Air, 6.2a-g Discharges to Water, 6.3a-g Assessment and Management of Spills and Leakages, 6.4a-b Public Disclosure of Spills and Leakages, 7.1a-b Water Assessment and Disclosure and 9.1a-d Human Rights Due Diligence. During the Certification Period, Triangle’s Cycling Equipments S.A will be implementing a corrective action plan, which will be verified in follow-up audits.
