About Bel France
Bel France is a mission-led company dedicated to making healthier and more sustainable food accessible to all. We are working towards the development of a new food model - one that truly respects the planet's natural resources, benefits the entire ecosystem, and acts for both present and future generations. Since 1865, we've cultivated a pioneering spirit. In 1921, Léon Bel revolutionized the way we eat by inventing the individual portion wrapped into aluminium foil – a stroke of genius that rapidly became a global staple! This pivotal innovation unleashed The Laughing Cow®, an iconic, century-old brand embodying sharing and innovation. True to this legacy of audacity and invention, we relentlessly evolve our model, placing responsible food at the very core of our strategy Aligned with our core purpose, we've set and enshrined in our mission-driven company's statutes 4 social and environmental objectives: - Offer products that contribute to healthier eating and promote good habits to support the food transition; - Help preserve the planet and regenerate its natural resources; - Improve access to more responsible and sustainable products; - Create shared value for our entire ecosystem. Being mission-driven means we push ourselves to find real solutions—to reduce our environmental impact and support communities every day. That's why we've joined the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI). As we use aluminium for The Laughing Cow, Kiri, and Boursin packs, we want to raise the bar on responsible sourcing and support better recycling. ASI is all about higher standards, more transparency, and collective progress—making sure our packaging choices are as responsible as what's inside.
At Bel, collective action is at the heart of our approach. Our Sustainable Portions Policy drives us to constantly rethink our packaging for lower impact—and sourcing 100% of our aluminium from ASI-certified suppliers is a key step. By joining ASI, we’re not just raising the bar for ourselves, but collaborating with others to accelerate responsible sourcing and shape a truly circular model for the portions we love to share.
