About Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio
Founded in 1941, Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio (CBA) is the most traditional and the first national aluminum manufacturing industry in the country. The Company, which is part of Votorantim SA’s business portfolio, is also the only company in Latin America to operate with a fully integrated operation, from bauxite processing to the production of primary aluminum (ingots, billets, rebar and boards) and processed (plates, coils, sheets and profiles).
With headquarters located in the city of Alumínio (SP), where it occupies 700,000 m² of constructed area, CBA also has three bauxite mining plants, established in the municipalities of Miraí, Itamarati de Minas and Poços de Caldas, in Minas Gerais, as well as an aluminum recycling company in the city of Araçariguama (SP).
The performance of the CBA is aimed, primarily, to provide solutions and services for the Brazilian industry focused in the areas of packaging and transport, and — through strategic partners — the consumer goods, energy and construction markets. With the organizational restructuring carried out in July 2016, the management of nickel operations became the responsibility of Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio (CBA).
It is with great satisfaction that the “Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio” (CBA) joins the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative.
Founded in 1955, CBA has followed a successful trajectory, marked by pioneering, solidity and capacity for transformation. In this regard, sustainability as a management principle underpins CBA’s administration and operations. CBA has a scrap aluminium recycling capacity of 150,000 tons per year. Further competitive differentiators include a 100% self-sufficient supply of bauxite and 100% self-sufficient energy supply through its hydroelectric plants.
Therefore, the partnership with the ASI is of fundamental importance to CBA’s continuous evolution of its activities focused on the balance between the productive sector, the environment and social responsibility.
