REAL ALLOY has achieved ASI Performance Standard V2 (2017) certification for the recycling of aluminium scrap and production of wrought and foundry alloys at 11 production facilities located in Canada, the United States of America and Mexico, plus central strategic and administrative functions at their headquarters in Beachwood, Ohio, USA. The plants produce alloys to specification by converting pre- and post-consumer aluminium scrap into liquid metal and ingot form.

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that REAL ALLOY has been successfully certified against the ASI Performance Standard V2 for the recycling of aluminium scrap and production of wrought and cast alloys at its facilities in Chicago Heights (IL, USA), Friendly (WV, USA), Goodyear (AZ, USA), Loudon (TN, USA), Mississauga (ON, CA), Monclova (Coah., MX), Morgantown (KY, USA), Post Falls (ID, USA), Sapulpa (OK, USA), Wabash Specification (IN, USA), and Wabash Recycle (IN, USA), as well as central strategic and administrative functions at their headquarters in Beachwood (OH, USA). The plants supply a diverse range of industry sectors, such as automotive and transportation, packaging, manufacturing, and construction, with specified foundry and wrought alloys in both molten and solid ingot forms.

The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard V2 (2017) defines environmental, social and governance principles and criteria, with the aim to address sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain. It sets out 59 criteria under the three sustainability pillars of Governance, Environment and Social, which address key issues such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples rights, and greenhouse gas emissions.

The independent, third-party audit of the Real Alloy Holding, LLC was carried out by DNV Business Assurance Services UK Ltd. The audit took place prior to May 31, 2023, thus enabling a Performance Standard V2 certification.

“We warmly congratulate REAL ALLOY for achieving ASI Performance Standard V2 certification at these 11 recycling facilities. The company’s recycling of a wide range of aluminium scrap makes an important contribution to the circular economy of a range of downstream sectors. ASI certification demonstrates REAL ALLOYs commitment to responsible production practices, helping it to align with increasing expectations of investors, customers, and other stakeholders on risk mitigation, supply chain transparency and responsible sourcing.”

– Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI
