ASI certifies ALUMAN S.A. against Performance Standard V3
The facility’s production activities include casting, hot rolling, cold rolling, blanking, annealing, surface treatment and packaging.
28 July 2023
Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that ALUMAN S.A. has been certified against the ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) for the production of aluminium slugs, mainly used for monobloc aerosol containers, as well as collapsible tubes for the pharmaceutical, food, and cosmetic industries. The facility also produces discs, mainly used in the production of cookware. The company produces over 35,000 tonnes of aluminium slugs and discs annually.
The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) was launched in May 2022 following a multi-year revision process. It defines 11 principles and 62 criteria under three sustainability pillars – Environment, Social, and Governance – with the aim to address pressing sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain, such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples’ rights, circularity, and greenhouse gas emissions.
The independent, third-party audit of the ALUMAN S.A. facility and headquarters was carried out by EUROCERT S.A.
“We warmly congratulate ALUMAN S.A. for achieving Performance Standard Certification V3 (2022) at its facility in Oinofyta, Greece and its headquarters in Athens, Greece. With its certification, Aluman demonstrates that company size is no barrier to pursuing sustainability performance. As a family-run SME, Aluman’s commitment to its employees and local community supports the achievement of social sustainability aspects where it operates, while also contributing to a more responsible aluminium value chain.”
– Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at Aluminium Stewardship Initiative
“Aluman’s team is thrilled to have achieved ASI Certification and very proud to consistently pursue continuous improvement as a responsible and sustainable business.”
