Emirates Global Aluminium PJSC has achieved ASI Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard V2 (2022) Certification for all its operational sites in the UAE. This Certification encompasses aluminium smelting and casting, carbon plants, power generation, and other related facilities at both Jebel Ali and Al Taweelah. It also includes the alumina refinery located in Al Taweelah. These facilities achieved ASI Performance Standard V2 (2017) Certification in May 2022.

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that Emirates Global Aluminium PJSC (EGA) has been successfully certified against the ASI CoC Standard V2 (2022). EGA produced 2.73 million tonnes of aluminium at Al Taweelah smelter and Jebel Ali smelters in 2023. Both smelters are equipped with anode production facilities, casthouses, and captive power plants. Additionally, Al Taweelah alumina refinery produced 2.48 million tonnes of alumina in 2023.

The ASI CoC Standard V2 sets out requirements for the creation of a Chain of Custody for material that is produced and processed through the value chain into diverse downstream sectors. The implementation of ASI’s CoC Standard links verified practices at successive steps of the supply chain – certified under the ASI Performance Standard – to the materials produced by ASI Certified Entities. The CoC Standard also confirms that appropriate policies and due diligence processes are in place to identify and address critical issues, such as corruption, human rights abuses, materials originating from conflict-affected and high-risk areas in the supply chain and support responsible sourcing.

The independent, third-party audit of the Emirates Global Aluminium PJSC facility was carried out by DNV Business Assurance Services UK Ltd. A full listing of audit findings outlining evidence of conformances is available from page 5 of the summary audit report, linked below. No non-conformances were noted during the audit.
