Hindalco Industries Limited, Mouda Unit has achieved ASI Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard V2 (2022) Certification for manufacturing and supply of unalloyed and alloyed aluminium plates, coils, sheets, foil and fin products at Hindalco Industries Limited, Mouda Unit, India.

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that Hindalco Industries Ltd., Mouda Unit has been successfully certified against the ASI CoC Standard V2 (2022). The company re-certified the facility to Performance Standard V3 (2022) Certification in March 2024. The company’s product range includes bare foil, pharmaceutical foil, and consumer products such as semi-rigid containers and kitchen foil.

The ASI CoC Standard V2 sets out requirements for the creation of a Chain of Custody for material that is produced and processed through the value chain into diverse downstream sectors. The implementation of ASI’s CoC Standard links verified practices at successive steps of the supply chain – certified under the ASI Performance Standard – to the materials produced by ASI Certified Entities. The CoC Standard also confirms that appropriate policies and due diligence processes are in place to identify and address critical issues, such as corruption, human rights abuses, materials originating from conflict-affected and high-risk areas in the supply chain and support responsible sourcing.

The independent, third-party audit of the Hindalco Industries Ltd., Mouda Unit facility was carried out by CETIZION Verifica. A full listing of audit findings outlining evidence of conformances and minor non-conformance is available from page 5 of the summary audit report, linked below. Two minor non-conformances were noted under Criteria 2.2c Control of CoC Material (Risk assessment) and 7.2 Risk Assessment and Mitigation. Hindalco Industries Ltd., Mouda Unit will be implementing a corrective action plan, the implementation of which will be verified in follow-up audits.

“We congratulate Hindalco Industries Ltd., Mouda Unit on achieving Certification against ASI’s CoC Standard V2. The Certification recognises Hindalco’s commitment to implementing due diligence along its supply chain, which can help strengthen supplier relationships, and confirms that the company has adopted the required systems and processes to ensure responsible sourcing for its operations.”

– Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI
