ASI certifies Jiangsu Kuna New Energy Co., Ltd. against Performance Standard V3

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that Jiangsu Kuna New Energy Co., Ltd. has been certified against the ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022). The company is primarily engaged in the research, development and production of aluminium alloy materials such as those used for automotive lightweighting, industrial aluminium profiles, automotive profiles, window system profiles, precision aluminium profiles, solar frame systems and other aluminium alloys. The company’s products mainly serve the rail, automotive, renewable energy and construction sectors.
The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) defines 11 principles and 62 criteria under three sustainability pillars – Environment, Social, and Governance – with the aim to address pressing sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain.
The independent, third-party audit of the Jiangsu Kuna New Energy Co., Ltd. facility was carried out by DNV Business Assurance Services UK Ltd. A full listing of audit findings outlining evidence of conformances and minor non-conformances is available from page 5 of the summary audit report, linked below. Seven minor non-conformances are noted under Criteria 4.1a Environmental Life Cycle Assessment, 5.3a-e GHG Emissions Reduction Plans, 9.8b Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas – Identify and assess risks, 9.8e Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas – Report annually, 10.7a-c Remuneration, 11.1a Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Management System, and 11.1b-e Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Management System – Reviews and disclosure. During the Certification Period, Jiangsu Kuna New Energy Co., Ltd. will be implementing a corrective action plan, which will be verified in follow-up audits.
