Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG (Porsche) has achieved ASI Performance Standard V3.1 (2023) Certification with a focus on Material Stewardship for Central functions as well as the manufacture of automobiles, including vehicle assembly, engine and electric drive production at the Porsche headquarters in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, Germany.

ASI Certification

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that Porsche has been certified against the ASI Performance Standard V3.1 (2023). The Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, Germany plant is responsible for manufacturing and assembly of 911 and Taycan models, production of boxer engines for the two-door sports cars, V8 engines for the four-door Porsche models and electric drives for the Taycan and Macan electric model series.

The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard V3 and ASI CoC Standard V2 were launched in May 2022 following a multi-year revision process. The ASI Performance Standard V3 defines 11 principles and 62 criteria under three sustainability pillars – Environment, Social, and Governance – with the aim to address pressing sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain, such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples rights, circularity, and greenhouse gas emissions. The 2022 Standards and related documents underwent a minor update in 2023, accounting for editorial changes, correction of minor errors and for general clarification, culminating in the release of Performance Standard V3.1 (2023) and Chain of Custody Standard V2.1 (2023). The Material Stewardship Certification is in a transition phase from the PS V2 (2017) to the PS V3 (2022) Standard, such that the first Certification cycle under the 2022 Standard will be against applicable criteria of at least Principles 1-4. These same Facilities will be required to demonstrate Conformance to all 11 Principles within 5 years after the launch of the V3 (2022) Standard.

The independent, third-party audit of Porsche was carried out by Certainable GmbH. A full listing of audit findings outlining evidence of conformances is available from page 5 of the summary audit report, linked below. No non-conformances were identified during the audit.
