ASI certifies Shandong Chuanghui New Material Technology Co., Ltd. against Chain of Custody Standard V2

Shandong Innovation Group Co., Ltd. has achieved ASI Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard V2 (2022) Certification for the production of electrical round Aluminium rods at Shandong Chuanghui New Material Technology Co., Ltd.’s two facilities in Zouping, Shandong Province, China.

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that Shandong Chuanghui New Material Technology Co., Ltd. has been certified against the ASI Chain of Custody Standard V2 (2022). The facility manufactures aluminium rods, conductors, wires, and enamelled aluminium winding wires, with approximate annual outputs of 300,000 tonnes of aluminium rods, 130,000 tonnes of conductors and aluminium wires, and 10,000 tonnes of enamelled round aluminium winding wires. Production activities include refining, casting, rolling, winding, drawing, aging testing, stranding, painting, baking, cooling, and coiling, supported by multiple production, drawing, and frame twisting lines across its manufacturing operations.

The ASI CoC Standard V2 sets out requirements for the creation of a Chain of Custody for material that is produced and processed through the value chain into diverse downstream sectors. The implementation of ASI’s CoC Standard links verified practices at successive steps of the supply chain – certified under the ASI Performance Standard – to the materials produced by ASI Certified Entities. The CoC Standard also confirms that appropriate policies and due diligence processes are in place to identify and address critical issues, such as corruption, human rights abuses, materials originating from conflict-affected and high-risk areas in the supply chain and support responsible sourcing.

The independent, third-party audit of Shandong Chuanghui New Material Technology Co., Ltd. was carried out by SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services. A full listing of audit findings outlining evidence of conformances is available from page 5 of the summary audit report, linked below. Three non-conformances were identified during the Chain of Custody Certification audit under Criteria 1.5 Communications and Training, 8.1 Material Accounting System and 9.5 Verification of Information. Shandong Chuanghui New Material Technology Co., Ltd. will be implementing corrective actions, to be verified in a follow-up audit.
