ASI certifies Zhejiang Daxia Aluminum Co., Ltd. against Performance Standard V3.1

Zhejiang Daxia Aluminum Co., Ltd. has achieved ASI Performance Standard V3.1 (2023) Certification for the production of aluminium alloy profiles for shower rooms and enclosures through key processes including melting, pouring, extrusion, polishing, cleaning, acid washing and oxidation, cleaning and spraying at their facility located in Zhejiang Province, China.

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that Zhejiang Daxia Aluminum Co., Ltd. has been certified against the ASI Performance Standard V3.1 (2023). The facility produces approximately 8,000 tonnes of aluminium alloy profiles annually, including bright and oxidised coloured profiles. Its production processes include extrusion, polishing, oxidation, waste recycling, and melting. The Certification covers the facility’s operations related to the manufacture of aluminium alloy profiles primarily used in shower rooms and enclosures.

The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) was launched in May 2022 following a multi-year revision process. It defines 11 principles and 62 criteria under three sustainability pillars – Environment, Social, and Governance – with the aim to address pressing sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain, such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples’ rights, circularity, and greenhouse gas emissions. The 2022 Standards and related documents underwent a minor update in 2023, accounting for editorial changes, correction of minor errors and for general clarification, culminating in the release of Performance Standard V3.1 (2023) and Chain of Custody Standard V2.1 (2023).

The independent, third-party audit of Zhejiang Daxia Aluminum Co., Ltd. was carried out by Shanghai Kylin Certification Service Co., Ltd. A full listing of audit findings outlining evidence of conformances and minor non-conformances is available from page 5 of the summary audit report, linked below. 15 minor non-conformances are noted under Criteria 2.1a-f Environmental, Social, and Governance Policy, 4.4d Collection and Recycling of Products at End of Life, 5.1a-b Disclosure of GHG Emissions and Energy Use, 5.3a GHG Emissions Reduction Plans, 5.4 GHG Emissions Management, 6.1a-f Emissions to Air, 6.2a-g Discharges to Waters, 6.5a-c Waste Management and Reporting, 7.1a-b Water Assessment and Disclosure, 9.1a-d Human Rights Due Diligence, 10.3a-c Forced Labour, 10.7a-c Remuneration, 10.8a-c Working Time, 11.1a Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Management System and 11.1b-e Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Management System – Reviews and disclosure. During the Certification Period, Zhejiang Daxia Aluminum Co., Ltd. will be implementing a corrective action plan, which will be verified in follow-up audits.
