ASI welcomes new member GDA – the German Aluminium Association – as an Associations member in June.
Gesamtverband der Aluminiumindustrie e.V. (GDA) with headquarters in Düsseldorf, Germany is an association of aluminium companies that produce raw aluminium or aluminium products. As an industrial sector association, GDA represents the interests of an efficient aluminium industry.
The German Aluminium Association represents the Global Players of the aluminium supply chain as well as a multitude of small and medium sized enterprises with a global impact. As an association we are a pioneer in supporting our members to embede the ideas of a sustainable development in their opperations. ASI challenges our industry with new ideas and standards. Especially, for Europe’s largest market it can create unexpected momenta. Our Association will accompany our industry on this way with its experience in areas such as LCAs, Environmental Monitoring and reporting, dialogue culture with relevant stakeholders and research activities. Today, I can proudly manifest: it was in Germany where the first set of sustainability indicators were tailor-made for the aluminiumd industry, which brought a lot of transparency into discussion around Sustainable Development and I dare to say it may be considered as a predecesor of the indicators of ASI.
– Christian Wellner, Executive Member of the GDA Board
