About GIADEC
Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC) is a state-owned company established by the Government of Ghana to drive the development of an integrated aluminium industry in the country. GIADEC’s mandate spans the full aluminium value chain, from the mining of bauxite and refining of alumina to the smelting of aluminium and its downstream transformation. The Corporation seeks to ensure that the development of Ghana’s bauxite resources is carried out in a sustainable, environmentally responsible, and socially inclusive manner that aligns with national and international best practices. As the anchor entity in Ghana’s Integrated Aluminium Industry (IAI), GIADEC collaborates with strategic partners and local communities to maximize value addition, create jobs, and foster industrial growth. GIADEC’s interest in joining the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) is driven by its commitment to upholding responsible production standards, improving ESG performance, and ensuring transparency and accountability across its operations and partnerships. Through ASI membership, GIADEC aims to align with global aluminium sustainability benchmarks and enhance its contribution to a just energy transition and green industrialisation agenda in Africa. GIADEC is wholly owned by the Government of Ghana and operates as part of Ghana’s broader industry
GIADEC is proud to join the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) as part of our commitment to developing a responsible and sustainable integrated aluminium industry in Ghana. This membership reinforces our dedication to upholding the highest environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards across the aluminium value chain, from bauxite mining to downstream processing. We look forward to collaborating with ASI and its members to promote transparency, sustainability, and shared value in the global aluminium sector
– Mr. Reindorf Twumasi Ankrah, Chief Executive Officer, Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC)
