Elizabeth is a social performance specialist with over 25 years’ experience in the extractives sector. This includes more than 20 years with Rio Tinto in operational and global corporate roles where she pioneered leading practices in cultural heritage management and integrated social management systems at asset and global levels. She is an expert in social risk, Indigenous Peoples, cultural heritage management, and in designing and embedding social performance standards and management systems. She developed and managed Rio Tinto’s global social assurance processes and has over 15 years international experience undertaking social assurance, including due diligence, project stage gate reviews, compliance audits, closure plan and strategic risk reviews.
Elizabeth’s aluminium experience includes supporting and assuring social performance across Rio Tinto’s portfolio of bauxite mines, alumina refineries and smelters; and supporting Alcoa in developing and implementing their social performance (including Indigenous Peoples) standards and management systems.
