Hydro Aluminium Rolled Products, with a primary aluminium plant in Germany and rolling mills in Germany and Norway, has become certified against ASI’s Performance Standard for environmental, social and governance performance. Rolled products include foil, strip, sheet and plate which are used in the automotive, transport, building and shipbuilding industry as well as engineering, electrical, domestic, printing and packaging industries.

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced Hydro Aluminium Rolled Products to be successfully certified against its standards for responsible production, sourcing and stewardship of aluminium, and the issuing of the 20th ASI Certificate. Hydro is one of the worlds’ leading manufacturers of technically advanced rolled aluminium products and solutions, with a strong production base in Europe and a global reach.

The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The independent, third-party audit of Rolled Products in Hydro was carried out by DNV GL.

Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI said “ASI warmly congratulates Hydro on the successful achievement of their third ASI certification, underscoring Hydro’s strong commitment to sustainability across their business. Aluminium rolled products reach a wide variety of downstream industries, and ASI is delighted to see this important sector growing its uptake of ASI Certification.”

Kjetil Ebbesberg, Executive Vice President of Rolled Products at Hydro, said “We are happy and proud to receive this important certification from ASI, and to soon be able to offer certified aluminium to our customers. This is an important next step on our ambitious sustainability agenda.”
