Aluminium Stewardship Initiative certifies Elval plant against ASI Performance Standard
The plant produces innovative and competitive flat rolled products destined for a diverse group of sectors and uses including packaging, transportation, automotive, HVAC&R, building and construction, energy and industrial applications among others.

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that Elval’s rolling facility has been successfully certified against the ASI Performance Standard for responsible production, sourcing and stewardship of aluminium. The certification scope covers the facility’s re-melting and casthouse facilities, hot/cold rolling, coil coating and finishing lines. The facility has an annual capacity of 300,000 tonnes and exports over 80% of its production to more than 60 countries.
The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard defines environmental, social and governance principles and criteria, with the aim to address sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain. It sets out 59 criteria under the three sustainability pillars of Governance, Environment and Social, which address key issues such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples rights, and greenhouse gas emissions. The independent, third-party audit of the Elval plant was carried out by DNV GL.
