ASI certifies Ye Chiu Metal Smelting Sdn. Bhd. against Performance Standard V3
The facility produces aluminium alloy ingots from aluminium scraps.

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that Ye Chiu Metal Smelting Sdn. Bhd. has been certified against the ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022). The facility is one of the largest aluminium recycling factories in Asia, producing aluminium alloy ingots from aluminium scraps. The facility features melting and holding furnaces, casting lines and stacking machines with a processing capacity in excess of 40,000 tonnes per annum.
The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) defines 11 principles and 62 criteria under three sustainability pillars – Environment, Social, and Governance – with the aim to address pressing sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain.
The independent, third-party audit of the Ye Chiu Metal Smelting Sdn. Bhd. facility was carried out by SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services. A full listing of audit findings outlining evidence of conformances and minor non-conformances is available from page 5 of the summary audit report, linked below. Four minor non-conformances are noted under Criteria 1.1 Legal Compliance, 6.3a-g Assessment and Management of Spills and Leakages, 9.1a-d Human Rights Due Diligence and 10.8a-c Working Time. During the Certification Period, Ye Chiu Metal Smelting Sdn. Bhd. will be implementing a corrective action plan, which will be verified in follow-up audits.
