International GHG Workshop in Shanghai
More than 250 people attended an International Aluminium Supply Chain GHG Accounting and Emission Reduction Pathways Workshop held in Shanghai on 11 July 2025, which was hosted by the International Aluminium Institute (IAI) and supported by ASI.

Speakers from IAI, ASI, the China Non-Ferrous Metals Industry Association (CNIA), RMI, SGS and SMM highlighted the extensive work each organisation is doing on GHG emissions and methodologies, and how these intersect. Mr Dong Chunming of Sunlight Metal chaired the afternoon discussions and underscored the value of international collaboration to address global challenges.
ASI also attended two days of ALUMINIUM CHINA in Shanghai, meeting with a range of members and key stakeholders. Over the weekend, ASI members CSMET and Shanghai Giant Alloy hosted the team for informative site visits, showcasing their scrap management practices and broader sustainability commitments. The Shanghai Aluminium Association joined ASI for these visits and we look forward to deepening our cooperation into the future.
