ASI certifies Guangdong Hongjin New Material Group Co., Ltd against Performance Standard V3

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that Guangdong Hongjin New Material Group Co., Ltd. has been certified against the ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022). The Entity operates six production subsidiaries and produces aluminium alloy ingots and aluminium alloy liquids. Its main production processes include aluminium scrap remelting, refining, ingot casting and the direct supply of molten aluminium. In 2024, the Entity’s total production was approximately 743,300 tonnes, including 506,600 tonnes of molten aluminium and 236,700 tonnes of aluminium ingots.
The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard V3 and ASI CoC Standard V2 were launched in May 2022 following a multi-year revision process. The ASI Performance Standard V3 defines 11 principles and 62 criteria under three sustainability pillars – Environment, Social, and Governance – with the aim to address pressing sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain, such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples rights, circularity, and greenhouse gas emissions.
The independent, third-party audit of Guangdong Hongjin New Material Group Co., Ltd was carried out by SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services. Seven minor non-conformances were noted under Criteria 3.2 Non-compliance and Liabilities, 4.1a Environmental Life Cycle Assessment, 4.1b-c Environmental Life Cycle Assessment – Disclosure, 5.1a-b Disclosure of GHG Emissions and Energy Use, 5.3a-e GHG Emissions Reduction Plans, 5.4 GHG Emissions Management and 10.8a-c Working Time. Guangdong Hongjin New Material Group Co., Ltd will be implementing corrective actions, to be verified in a follow-up audit.
