Suntown Technology Group Corporation Limited (SNTO) has achieved Certification to the ASI Chain of Custody for manufacturing sites in Changsha and Changde, China. The certification includes casthouse, re-melting, refining and material conversion activities related to aluminium foil production.

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that two SNTO facilities for aluminium foil production have been successfully certified against ASI’s Chain of Custody Standard. The same facilities were also certified to the ASI Performance Standard in April 2019. With the certification of re-melting/ refining and casting operations, SNTO is the second of ASI’s China-based members to certify multiple facilities against the ASI Chain of Custody Standard.

The ASI CoC Standard sets out requirements for the creation of a Chain of Custody for material that is produced and processed through the value chain into diverse downstream sectors. The implementation of ASI’s CoC Standard links verified practices at successive steps of the supply chain – certified under the ASI Performance Standard – to the products produced by ASI Certified Entities.

The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The independent, third-party audit of the SNTO facilities was carried out by TÜV Rheinland Cert GmbH.

Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI, said “ASI congratulates SNTO for this important Chain of Custody Certification, which covers aluminium recycling and foil production, and builds on their Performance Standard Certification earlier this year. The foil packaging sector has been the most proactive to date in implementing ASI Standards among the various downstream aluminium use sectors. We are delighted to see SNTO among the forefront of these efforts.”

Mr. Aiden Nie, the Executive Director of SNTO Group and Marketing Director of Foil Division, said “We are very pleased and honored to obtain the ASI Performance Standard certificate and Chain of Custody certificate. This is a result of SNTO practicing the sustainable development strategy of energy saving, emission reduction, low carbon and environmental protection. As a pioneer of the aluminum processing industry, SNTO Group has been moving persistently towards the research, development and innovation of efficient application of aluminium alloy. We aim to create a highly efficient and clean new world with this light metal and achieved remarkable results. In the meantime, SNTO Group consistently carries out responsible sourcing and enterprise governance, which aligns with the concept of ASI. As a manufacturer of advanced aluminium foil, light-weighted semi-trailer and aluminium construction formwork, SNTO will continue the work of energy conservation and emission reduction and promotes implementation of ASI standards, thus contributing to the sustainable development of the entire aluminium industry. While enjoying the benefits of world civilization, we are also creating better products and services for people all over the world.”
