alimex GmbH Precision in Aluminium has achieved ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) Certification for the production of aluminium cast plates and blocks, high-precision components, as well as surface machining of rolled plates and distribution and machining of semi-finished products at its facility in Willich, Germany.

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that alimex GmbH Precision in Aluminium has been certified against the ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022). Their products serve industries including electronics, laser, packaging, medical technology, automotive, mechanical engineering, semiconductor and solar.

The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) was launched in May 2022 following a multi-year revision process. It defines 11 principles and 62 criteria under three sustainability pillars – Environment, Social, and Governance – with the aim to address pressing sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain, such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples’ rights, circularity, and greenhouse gas emissions.

The independent, third-party audit of the alimex GmbH facility was carried out by TÜV NORD CERT GmbH. No non-conformances were identified.

“We warmly congratulate alimex for achieving Performance Standard Certification V3 (2022). The company’s plates, cuts and components from cast aluminium material offer corrosion-resistance, various degrees of hardness or variable surface structures – properties that are beneficial in a multitude of downstream applications. alimex’s Performance Standard certification assures its customers that the production processes at the Willich site are underpinned by a broad range of industry-leading ESG policies and practices.”

“The aluminum industry, and we as participants, make every effort to minimize environmental impacts along the entire value chain. These include, for example: reducing waste, emissions and water consumption as well as preventing environmental pollution. In order to address ecological and social challenges and ensure long-term economic success, alimex’s goal is to promote quality and sustainability in its business processes and products. For us, sustainability is not a temporary project, but a process with always new challenges that we are happy to take on. Protecting the environment and resources for the benefit of society and future generations is one of our most important concerns. Based on these principles, we consciously decided to become part of ASI, to commit ourselves to the same values and to meet this standard”
