Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that Aludium France SAS has been certified against the ASI Performance Standard V2. The plant produces bright aluminium material for the international market targeted to a wide range of industries such as construction, automotive, transportation, packaging, and general engineering. The site includes two rolling mills and associated finishing lines.
The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard V2 (2017) defines environmental, social and governance principles and criteria, with the aim to address sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain. It sets out 59 criteria under the three sustainability pillars of Environment, Social, and Governance, which address key issues such as biodiversity, labour rights, Indigenous Peoples rights, and greenhouse gas emissions.
The independent, third-party audit of the Aludium France SAS facility was carried out by DNV Business Assurance Services UK Ltd.
“We congratulate Aludium on achieving Performance Standard V2 certification at their bright aluminium mill at Castelsarrasin, France. Bright aluminium’s aesthetic appeal, combined with its lightweight and durable properties, makes it an ideal choice for products in diverse downstream sectors that require both functionality and visual attractiveness. Achieving Performance Standard Certification at all of its production facilities consolidates Aludium’s positioning as an industry leader in responsible aluminium production.”
– Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI
“We are pleased to announce that we have achieved ASI certification, an international standard for the responsible production and management of aluminum. This certification demonstrates our commitment to sustainability and transparency in our aluminum supply and production chain. We are committed to continuing to work with our partners to promote responsible and sustainable practices in the aluminum industry.”
– Lionel Chapis, CEO at Aludium
