Ardagh Metal Packaging has achieved ASI Performance Standard V2 (2017) Certification with a focus on Material Stewardship at its facilities in Manaus and Sao Paulo, Brazil. The company manufactures beverage cans, with its Manaus facility specialising in the production of can ends.
Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that Ardagh Metal Packaging (AMP), has been certified against the ASI Performance Standard for its Ardagh Industria de Embalagens Metalicas do Brasil Ltda facility. The certification covers the production of beverage can ends at the Manaus, Brazil facility, as well as management activities for centralised operational functions, global support functions, and quality assurance at its regional central organisation in São Paulo, Brazil.
The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. ASI Performance Standard certifications focusing on ‘material stewardship’ address issues such as product design, life cycle assessments, management of process scrap and collection and recycling of products at end-of-life.
The independent, third-party audit of the Ardagh Metal Packaging (AMP) operation was carried out by DNV Business Assurance Services UK Ltd.
“We warmly congratulate Ardagh Metal Packaging (AMP) on achieving Performance Standard Certification with Material Stewardship focus for its centralised functions in Sao Paulo and production facility in Manaus, Brazil. The company engages with both civil society organisations and community stakeholders on programs to encourage higher recycling rates through strategic action. The attainment of AMP’s ASI Performance Standard Certification demonstrates the company’s dedicated approach to material stewardship, ensuring responsible management of its aluminum products during production and post-consumer scrap management.”

“AMP is delighted to receive this latest recognition of our sustainability performance. We are committed to the sustainability leadership of aluminium beverage packaging, and ASI certification across a number of our global facilities is confirmation that we are progressing on this journey. It demonstrates the strength of the beverage can as a key part of a Circular Economy and AMP as the right partner for our customers and communities in achieving shared environmental, social and governance goals.”
