Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that China Hongqiao Group Co., Ltd. has been successfully certified against the ASI CoC Standard V2 (2022). The Zouping Hongfa facility includes a melting and casting workshop, hot rolling workshop, cold rolling workshop, finishing workshop, and supporting facilities. The designed annual output is 760,000 tonnes of high-precision aluminum sheets and strips, with the main products including can body materials, can lid materials, battery foil blank materials, and aluminium foil blank materials. The subsidiary facility, Zouping Dingrui is primarily involved in the processing and treating metal waste, as well as recovering and utilising aluminium metal waste. The facilities’ achieved ASI Performance Standard V2 (2017) Certification in December 2022.
The ASI CoC Standard V2 sets out requirements for the creation of a Chain of Custody for material that is produced and processed through the value chain into diverse downstream sectors. The implementation of ASI’s CoC Standard links verified practices at successive steps of the supply chain – certified under the ASI Performance Standard – to the materials produced by ASI Certified Entities. The CoC Standard also confirms that appropriate policies and due diligence processes are in place to identify and address critical issues, such as corruption, human rights abuses, materials originating from conflict-affected and high-risk areas in the supply chain and support responsible sourcing.
The independent, third-party audit of the China Hongqiao Group Co., Ltd. facilities was carried out by DNV Business Assurance Services UK Ltd. A full listing of audit findings outlining evidence of conformances and minor non-conformance is available from page 5 of the summary audit report, linked below.
