CS Aluminium Corporation (CSAC) has successfully achieved ASI Performance Certification for four production facilities, including melting and casting, two rolling mills, a foil mill and CSAC headquarters in Taiwan. The main processes include re-melting and casting, hot rolling, cold rolling and finishing for the manufacture of aluminium plates, rolls, sheets and foil.

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that CSAC has certified four production operations and their headquarters in Taiwan against ASI’s Performance Standard for responsible production, sourcing and stewardship of aluminium. The certified facilities undertake Aluminium Re-melting/Refining, Casting, Semi-Fabrication, and Material
Conversion.

The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard defines environmental, social and governance principles and criteria, with the aim to address sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain. It sets out 59 criteria under the three sustainability pillars of Governance, Environment and Social, which address key issues such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples rights, and greenhouse gas emissions. The independent, third-party audit of the CSAC facilities was carried out by DNV GL.

Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI said “ASI warmly congratulates CSAC, the largest manufacturer of rolled aluminium products in Taiwan, on their Performance Standard Certification. Their integrated facilities, which manufacture products for building and construction, automotive, packaging, electronics, and ship-building sectors, among others, have an important role to play in enabling customers in those key downstream sectors to source responsibly produced aluminium products. ”

“Since its establishment in 1996, CSAC’s management team has led all employees to pursue growth, energy conservation, environment protection and value innovation by following the company philosophy of “Practicality, Innovation, Growth and Co-prosperity.” CSAC conducts annual verification in its quality, environmental protection, occupational safety and health, and energy systems so as to further improve the development of enterprise and fulfils its responsibilities to shareholders, customers, employees, and the society.” Mr. Jye-Long Lee, President of CSAC, said, “Obtaining certification is only the first step. CSAC will continue to follow the relevant guidelines of the ASI Performance Standard as the basis of corporate governance, become an international outstanding aluminium company, and fulfil the duty of citizens of the world.”
