Hammerer Aluminium Industries (HAI) has achieved ASI Performance Standard (2017) Certification for its extrusion and related processes at the HAI Extrusion GmbH facility in Ranshofen, Austria. HAI received Performance Standard certification at two remelting/recycling/casting operations in 2020, in Ranshofen, Austria and in Santana, Romania.

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that Hammerer Aluminium Industries has been certified against the ASI Performance Standard for responsible production, sourcing and stewardship of aluminium. The certification is for the production of extruded aluminium profiles, aluminium profiles fabricated and surface-treated, components made of aluminium fabricated/welded and aluminium composite profiles, thermally insulated, at HAI’s Ranshofen, Austria facility. The company’s extruded products are destined primarily for use in the transportation, building and construction and industrial sectors.

The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard V2 (2017) defines environmental, social and governance principles and criteria, with the aim to address sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain. It sets out 59 criteria under the three sustainability pillars of Governance, Environment and Social, which address key issues such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples rights, and greenhouse gas emissions. ASI launched a revised Performance Standard in 2022.

The independent, third-party audit of the HAI Extrusion GmbH facility was carried out by TÜV Rheinland Cert GmbH.

“ASI congratulates Hammerer Aluminium Industries on the Performance Standard Certification for their extrusion operation in Ranshofen. Sustainability is a journey of continuous improvement, and this is demonstrated by HAI, not only in their ESG policies and practices, but also in their commitment achieving ASI Certification at a growing number of production facilities.”

– Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI

“In view of our high motivation to continuously improve our business processes along the entire value chain and to make them sustainable, we are very proud to have now received the ASI Performance Standard certification for our extrusion and processing plant in Ranshofen. After certifying our two casting plants in 2020 this is the next step to contribute to a better future and make aluminium as part of the solution for the ambitions of the EU Green Deal.”

– Markus Schober, COO HAI Group
