ASI certifies Hindalco Industries Ltd Renukoot Downstream facility against Performance Standard
The facility manufactures rolled and extruded products for diverse industries, encompassing building and construction, transportation, and industrial applications.

Hindalco Industries Ltd has achieved ASI Performance Standard V2 (2017) Certification for its Renukoot Downstream facility in Uttar Pradesh, India. The facility has been certified for its remelting and refining, as well as casthouses and semi-fabrication facilities, producing ingots, wire rods, and rolled and extruded products.Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that Hindalco Industries Ltd has been certified against the ASI Performance Standard V2. The Renukoot Downstream facility manufactures rolled and extruded products for diverse industries, encompassing building and construction, transportation, and industrial applications.
The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard V2 (2017) defines environmental, social and governance principles and criteria, with the aim to address sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain. It sets out 59 criteria under the three sustainability pillars of Environment, Social, and Governance, which address key issues such as biodiversity, labour rights, Indigenous Peoples rights, and greenhouse gas emissions.
The independent, third-party audit of the Hindalco Industries Ltd Renukoot Downstream facility was carried out by CETIZION Verifica. The audit took place prior to May 31, 2023, thus enabling a Performance Standard V2 certification. A full listing of audit findings outlining evidence of conformances and minor non-conformances is available from page 5 of the summary audit report, linked below. Seven minor non-conformances are noted under Criteria 2.4: Responsible Sourcing, 6.1 Emissions to Air, 8.2a Biodiversity management (biodiversity action plans), 8.3 Alien Species, 9.1b Human Rights Due Diligence (process), 9.8 Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas and 10.7a Remuneration (living wage). During the Certification Period, Hindalco Industries Ltd will be implementing a corrective action plan, which will be verified in follow-up audits.
