JW Aluminum has achieved ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) Certification for manufacturing of aluminium coils at its two US facilities in Goose Creek, South Carolina and Russellville, Arkansas. The Certification also includes central functions at the company’s corporate office in Charleston, South Carolina.

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that JW Aluminum has been certified against the ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022). The company produces flat-rolled aluminium products for use in building and construction, HVAC/R and transportation segments, including building and distributor Sheet, fin stock and aluminium used for automotive component parts.

The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) defines 11 principles and 62 criteria under three sustainability pillars – Environment, Social, and Governance – with the aim to address pressing sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain.

The independent, third-party audit of the JW Aluminum facilities was carried out by DNV Business Assurance Services UK Ltd. A full listing of audit findings outlining evidence of conformances and minor non-conformances is available from page 5 of the summary audit report, linked below. Two minor non-conformances are noted under Criteria 9.2a-e Gender Equity and Women’s Empowerment and 9.8e Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas – Report annually. During the Certification Period, JW Aluminum will be implementing a corrective action plan, which will be verified in follow-up audits.

“We congratulate JW Aluminum on achieving Performance Standard Certification V3 (2022). With products that are destined for several key downstream industries, this Certification demonstrates JW Aluminum’s commitment to responsible manufacturing processes and their important role in fostering improved environmental, social, and governance outcomes across the aluminium value chain.”

– Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer of the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative

“Earning ASI Performance Standard Certification across our entire U.S. operations demonstrates our steadfast commitment to sustainability and to producing aluminum responsibly right here at home. It’s a major milestone in our ongoing sustainability journey and one that reflects our companywide dedication to meet the highest global standards in our industry.”

– Ryan Roush, Chief Operating Officer at JW Aluminum
