ASI certifies Shanghai Huafon Aluminium Corporation against Performance Standard
The company has an annual production capacity of 175,000 tonnes of rolled aluminium products, which are used in applications such as automotive, engineering machinery, power stations, air conditioning and battery housing.

Shanghai Huafon Aluminium Corporation has achieved ASI Performance Standard V2 (2017) Certification for its manufacturing processes including casting, hot rolling, cold rolling, slitting and stamping at its production plant in Jinshan District, Shanghai, China.Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that Shanghai Huafon Aluminium Corporation has achieved Certification against the ASI Performance Standard for its Shanghai production facility. The company has an annual production capacity of 175,000 tonnes of rolled aluminium products, which are used in applications such as automotive, engineering machinery, power stations, air conditioning and battery housing.
The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard V2 (2017) defines environmental, social and governance principles and criteria, with the aim to address sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain. It sets out 59 criteria under the three sustainability pillars of Environment, Social, and Governance, which address key issues such as biodiversity, labour rights, Indigenous Peoples rights, and greenhouse gas emissions.
The independent, third-party audit of Shanghai Huafon Aluminium Corporation was carried out by Shanghai Kylin Certification Service Co., Ltd. The audit took place prior to May 31 2023, thus enabling a Performance Standard V2 certification. A full listing of audit findings outlining evidence of conformances and minor non-conformances is available from page 5 of the summary audit report, linked below. Six minor non-conformances are noted under Criteria 2.4 Responsible Sourcing, 4.1c Environmental Life Cycle Assessment (public communication), 6.3b Assessment and Management of Spills and Leakage (management), 6.5b Waste management and reporting (disclosure), 10.7a Remuneration (living wage) and 11.3 Employee engagement on health and safety. During the Certification Period, Shanghai Huafon Aluminium Corporation will be implementing a corrective action plan the implementation of which will be verified in follow-up audits.
