About Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée (CBG)
Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée (“CBG”) operates mines in the area of Sangarédi in the north-western part of the Republic of Guinea.
CBG produces and exports over 16 million tons of higher-grade bauxite per year. Its shares are held by the Guinean State (49%) and by Halco (Mining) Inc. (51%), a company owned by some of the most respected international stakeholders in the industry. Safety and operational excellence are the company’s credo. CBG aims to align its practices with some of the highest standards in the world in terms of health, safety, environmental and social standards, notably with those of the International Financial Company (IFC).
ince it began operations in early 1973, CBG has contributed more than US$ 5 billion to the revenues of the Guinean State. Since 2016, it has invested close to a billion dollars in its projects to modernize its assets and to expand its production capacity.
By producing a higher-grade bauxite used in various industries (aeronautics, automobile, electricity, packaging, construction, etc.), we are contributing to the progress of society.
As reflected in its values and its vision, Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée (CBG) places great emphasis on community issues, good governance and the protection of the environment.
Therefore, supported by its shareholders, CBG is committed to the Aluminum Stewardship Initiative (ASI) Performance Standard certification process.
In addition to our ISO Standards and to the IFC Performance Standards, ASI certification would enable us to consolidate our practices and our commitment to sustainable development.
