Alcoa joins ASI

ASI is delighted to welcome Alcoa as a new member of the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI), supporting ASI’s mission to define and deliver the first global standard for aluminium sustainability. Alcoa pioneered the aluminium industry over 125 years ago, and today, with more than 60,000 people in 30 countries, is a global leader in lightweight metals technology, engineering and manufacturing. New Report: “Mining, the Aluminium Industry and Indigenous Peoples”

As one of the outcomes of an Indigenous Peoples Expert Meeting on the ASI Performance Standard in May 2015, ASI agreed to provide financial support for a publication that could further illustrate and share the experiences of indigenous peoples with the aluminium industry. The resulting report provides a global overview of the challenges facing indigenous peoples and presents five case studies from Australia, Cambodia, Guinea, India and Suriname. Find out more.
