Webinar: The Integrated Biodiversity Assessment Tool (IBAT) for ASI members & auditors
Would you like to better understand biodiversity risks and opportunities? Is accessing and interpreting biodiversity information often a challenge? Do you find terms & use of global biodiversity data sets difficult to understand?
Insufficient management of biodiversity impacts can have major risks for companies including for reputation and brand, market access, access to capital, and increased operating costs. We know that good practice biodiversity risk management creates many positive opportunities and help produce ‘win-win’ outcomes for the business, its stakeholders, society and global biodiversity conservation.
To help companies manage biodiversity impacts in accordance with the mitigation hierarchy, IBAT Alliance has developed the Integrated Biodiversity Assessment Tool (IBAT). IBAT is a high-level biodiversity screening tool that – among other applications – can be used at an early stage in a project to understand potential biodiversity risks and opportunities. It is an online data discovery, visualisation, and dissemination tool that provides users with unique single point access to the most authoritative global datasets on biodiversity and conservation. These include the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, the World Database of Protected Areas, and Key Biodiversity Areas.
This webinar will give an overview of how to easily access these data including the terms and conditions for using these data. This is also an opportunity for you to feed into the development of IBAT and help us to help you improve the use of biodiversity information within the aluminium value chain.
Biodiversity plays a key role in the Performance Stanadard Principle 8, and IBAT can provide some support for addressing specifically 8.1 and 8.4.
