Why ISO 59000?

The aluminium industry faces increasing pressure to balance growing demand with environmental responsibility. As highlighted in our earlier article on adopting ISO 59000, this family of standards represents a defining step forward in embedding circular economy principles within the industry. The ISO 59000 series offers a globally harmonised framework to:

  • Reduce resource dependency and waste.
  • Enhance transparency and traceability across the value chain.
  • Align business practices with global sustainability goals, such as the UN SDGs.

Unlike the traditional “take-make-waste” approach of the linear economy, the circular economy emphasises keeping resources in use for as long as possible. Aluminium, as a highly circular material, is uniquely positioned to benefit from these practices.

The module is now live on educationAL (login required, free registration). Explore the ISO 59000 standards and discover how they can help you meet sustainability objectives while gaining competitive advantages.
