Greatview Aseptic Packaging has achieved ASI Performance Standard with a focus on Material Stewardship for its aseptic carton packaging production activities at its Germany plant, as well as the centralised material stewardship activities of the company’s main products conducted at the Head Office.
Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that Greatview Aseptic Packaging has been successfully certified against the ASI Performance Standard for responsible production, sourcing and stewardship of aluminium with a focus on material stewardship. The activities at the Halle facility in Germany primarily involve the production, flexographic printing, coating/laminating and cutting of aseptic carton packaging for liquid food products.
The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. ASI Performance Standard certifications focusing on ‘material stewardship’ address issues such as product design, life cycle assessments, management of process scrap and collection and recycling of products at end-of-life.
The independent, third-party audit of the Greatview Aseptic Packaging facility was carried out by GUTcert (AFNOR Group).
Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI said, “We congratulate Greatview Aseptic Packaging for their Performance Standard certification with Material Stewardship focus for its German production facility and centralized processes undertaken at the company headquarters in China. Aseptic carton packaging, with its ultra-thin aluminium foil layer, is a lightweight and efficient packaging. The company’s ASI Certification, as well as its involvement in international initiatives to promote increased recycling rates of this packaging type, are a very positive demonstration of its commitment to sustainability.”
Victor Lee, International Business Director at Greatview Aseptic Packaging, said, “We are pleased to have been awarded the Performance Standard Certificate by the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative. Sustainability has been an important element of our core value with our vision being to make liquid food consumption safe, accessible, appealing while respecting the environment. This Certification is an important recognition and endorsement for us and also another important milestone we achieved as part of our strong commitment to become an even more sustainable company.”
