ASI certifies Guangdong Golden Aluminum Co., Ltd. against Performance Standard V3

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that Guangdong Golden Aluminum Co., Ltd. has been certified against the ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022). The facility’s main production processes include aluminium rod extrusion, surface treatment (oxidation, spraying, electrophoresis), and packaging.
The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) was launched in May 2022 following a multi-year revision process. It defines 11 principles and 62 criteria under three sustainability pillars – Environment, Social, and Governance – with the aim to address pressing sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain, such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples’ rights, circularity, and greenhouse gas emissions.
The independent, third-party audit of Guangdong Golden Aluminum Co., Ltd. was carried out by SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services. A full listing of audit findings outlining evidence of conformances and minor non-conformances is available from page 5 of the summary audit report, linked below. 13 minor non-conformances are noted under Criteria 2.3b Environmental and Social Management Systems – Social, 2.7a-f Emergency Response Plan, 4.1a Environmental Life Cycle Assessment, 4.1b-c Environmental Life Cycle Assessment – Disclosure, 4.4a-c Collection and Recycling of Products at End of Life – Material Conversion and other Manufacturing 5.1a-b Disclosure of GHG Emissions and Energy Use, 5.3a-e GHG Emissions Reduction Plans, 5.4 GHG Emissions Management, 6.5a-c Waste Management and Reporting, 7.1a-b Water Assessment and Disclosure, 9.8a Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas – Strong Management Systems, 10.8a-c Working Time and 11.1b-e Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Management System – Reviews and disclosure. During the Certification Period, Guangdong Golden Aluminum Co., Ltd. will be implementing a corrective action plan, which will be verified in follow-up audits.
